About me

Montek, real name Monne Tšiu, is a deejay hailing from Maseru, the capital city of Lesotho — a place not widely known, yet home to one of the most vibrant and rich underground music scenes under the sun.

With a passion for sound that stretches back over two decades, Montek has been collecting vinyl records and mastering the art of deejaying since the early 2000s. While rooted in the warm crackle of analog records, his craft effortlessly extends into the digital realm.

A true pioneer of Lesotho’s underground movement, Montek’s sets traverse a rich spectrum of styles — from bossa nova, disco, and funk, to house, nu-jazz, drum & bass, and hip-hop/rnb, among many other sonically satisfying sounds.

His journey has seen him share stages — from intimate venues to large-scale festivals — with international and local heavyweights such as Jamie Thinnes (Seasons Recordings), Lars Behrenroth (Deeper Shades of House), Jan Kincl (Cycle Records), Vinny Da Vinci, DJ Ganyani, Michael G, Trev the Japanese, and June Jazzin, to name a few.

Through years of dedication, refined taste, and magnetic performances, Montek has earned his place as one of the most appreciated figures.
